Spanish Presentation + Youtube Premier

English

Jello guys!!

I have great news! My Youtube debut is finally here!

This past week I finally found the courage to make a video presentation in Spanish where I talk about myself and my blog, and why I created that channel and decided to make videos!

Subtitles are available in English and Portuguese, and I have many more videos planned out, so don't miss it! Unlike my blog posts I won't have these videos on a schedule, I'll just do them when I'm available because it takes a lot of time to make them and edit, and that's a thing I'm not yet very comfortable doin, so I'm just experimenting for the time being!

Without further ado here is the video!

Ta daa! If you like it or are curious to see more please subscribe! I won't post every single video to the blog, only those I find more relevant to the theme!

Well it's all for now, see you next time!

Jello pessoal!

A minha estreia no Youtube finalmente chegou!

Learning Through Music - Spanish

English

Hola chicos y chicas!
Today I bring to you another edition of “Learning Through Music” this time the Spanish version!
I’ve been listening to Spanish music my whole life, even in the radio sometimes a catchy tune comes up and we sang along only half-understanding the lyrics.
But since I started reviewing Spanish as a language I’ve been searching for more fun songs to help me learn in a fun way!
But enough chit-chat, let me show you some of my favourite songs (keep in mind that I’m still new and because of that many of the popular trendy songs may just pass by me)

For starters I've been absolutly obcessed with this band! Since I listened to "Enamorate" I've been binge listening to Dvicio on my free time!

Now for some oldies! I remember perfectly when this song became such a big deal in my middle school, and everyone knew the complete lyrics to it, I never knew why though, until years later I heard it again! "A Diós le Pido" is also a good song by the same artist!

Staying in the "oldies" cathegory, this is another song that belongs in my childhood and EVERYONE heard before!

Now for a more recent song! Recorded in Portugal with our beautiful landscapes and the portuguese singer Carminho accompanying the amazing Pablo Alborán this is definitly a favorite!

This song has also become very popular here in Portugal, Enrique Iglesias in general is very well-known and has many fans over here!
Well this will be all for now, hope you liked it!

Hola chicos y chicas!
Hoje trago-vos outra edição de “Learning Through Music”, desta vez a versão espanhola!

2016 Expectations and Delusions

Hey guys!

So I just wanted to drop by today and make an overview from what I learned in 2015 and what my hopes are for 2016!

Well what to say, what to say...

As so many times before, I started seriously studying Japanese, learned Hiragana and Katakana completly finally! (still they need some reviewing, especially Katakana)

I learned more Latin but unfortunatly put it on hold because summer vacation kicked in and I was having private lessons from my middle school Portuguese teacher!

Also started Italian in the middle of August, with some Spanish reviews here and there... In reality I didn't finish either courses, but I'm learning a lot form different sources, not only Duolingo trying to make sense of it all!

Well I think this was pretty much my 2015 language-wise, but I have higher hopes to 2016!

I want to start a Youtube channel, even if to just practice my speaking and having you all judge me there, this has been a little idea of mine for quite some time now, I follow a lot of polyglots on Youtube or just foreigners that are learning another language, and I always wished to become one of them!

Also, I wish to finish Italian and start French (That I should already know because I had it as a subject for three years in middle school, back when I wasn't really interested in languages other that English and Japanese) it's one of my biggest regrets not have taken advantage of the teachers I had at the time!

Getting into Kanji by the end of the year would also be perfect, if everything goes well I might have Japanese classes in colleage, so I'll certainly take advantage of that!

Kind-of-language-related wish is going to the UK to study, although I might not go to Languages, I really want to immerse myself in another country and learn as much as I can about that wonderful place! Besides from there I can travel to other places and experience a lot of more fun things and report it all back to you!

These are my main wishes for this year, I hope I can accomplish them all, if not I'll always have the next and so on, so on!

Tune in for more posts, I'm going to make some changes to the blog and the Tumblr page soon, so check that out!

Verb Conjugation Sheet

Hey guys!!!

So today I bring you something that will certainly be very helpful to you all!

I already shared this on my Tumblr, but many of you may not have seen it so I decided to do a post about it!

APAM or Asociación Políglota Autodidacta de México created some wonderful verb conjugation sheets that can be used for a great number of languages!

This is their presentation image, the great thing about this is that it's completly free, you can download it any time, or save it to your Dropbox, and acess it any time!

Here is the link to the Tumblr post where you can download the sheets! Be sure to follow them to for more useful content!

And here is one of the samples, as you can see it is personalized to each language, so you can download the ones you want to learn only!

Duolingo

Hey minna!!

Sorry for the late post (here it's still tuesday though), today I'm going to talk about the app/website I've been completly OBCESSED about, Duolingo!

I've been using it to study Italian and Spanish, but I'll probably use it for all european languages I want to learn! The interface is really easy to use and understand and it's much better divided than Memrise (And while memrise's courses are made by users and have some errors this one is made by people who really know the language and it's constantly imprving from tips form natives and other people.

To me Duolingo is much easier to use on the pc than Memrise, but the phone/tab version is also pretty good! It has many different exercises all for free, including speaking ones that really helps your pronouciation!

Of course it has some flaws as every app does, and you can't study exclusivly from it, but if you complement it with a manual and even Memrise to build up more advanced vocabulary it is perfect!

Also when a verb appears you have the option to see it's whole conjugation which for me is absolut heaven!!

Well this will be all for now, see you guys later!

Weekly Goals 5

Heyoo!

Aoo... This week I was a bit lazy with my japanese, in part because I was so fascinated with Duolingo and discovering how it worked and all... So those goals will remain the same!

But not everything is bad news! And this one is big! I will also brush up my Spanish!!!

There are a TON of things I've forgotten and a ton that I don't even know (pfft, school education am I right??) so I decided I can't stop completly spanish, so I'll integrate it on my weekly goals too!

I'll also be learning it on Duolingo so it'll be kind of similar.

Japanese

- Finish "Learn Basic Japanese" course on Memrise
- Brief introduction to Kanji on Tae Kim's course
- Finish level 6 on Genki

Italian

- Plurals
- Animals
- Food 2
- Possession
- Clothing
- Questions
- Present 1
- Colors
- Conjunctive

Spanish

- Present 3
- Verbs: Infinitive 1

Some of these levels have A LOT of content while other have very few, that is why Italian has so many goals whilst Spanish has so few, I'm trying to calibrate the two the best I can and not overload myself, especially since I also have a paper to deliver in History class and next week will be really eventfull!

This will be all for now, see you next time!

Español (Castellano)

Hola hermosos!

Today I'm here to talk about another language I have come to know.

I started learning Spanish on my freshman year of highschool (Portugal's 10th Grade), and I learned it for two years, reaching B2 level!

I'm a little rusty now, so I try to practice it from time to time, I sometimes watch videos completly in spanish, or I look for subs in spanish for tv shows/anime instead of english ones, just to polish up a little. While I understand relatively well the language, speaking sometimes is trickier, because I have to mentally put together whole sentences which is a little difficult for me, and the similarity to portuguese just makes it worse because I sometimes jamble it up a little.

I did take an exam in the end of my spanish classes and scored 17 (out of 20) and overall I had a 16 if I'm not mistaken, which isn't excellent because I had a really tough time with grammar, but I'm happy with the result, to me it was a good grade!

I also had the opportunity to put my abilities to the test earlier this year on a school trip to Madrid, where I was forced to interact with the culture in a much more direct way, it was really fun, although I didn't speak much spanish, mostly with store clerks and museum guides, still I was happy to have that experience to get out of my comfort zone.

This is all for now, hope you liked one ore language post, I won't write many posts in spanish since it's not something I'm currently learning, but I might post some fun facts and stuff like that, so look forward to that!
