Hello jellos!

Well this has been one announcement after the other hasn’t it? Well the reason for that is because one gigantic post about everything would just be REALLY boring especially about such different matters, other thing is, I like having everything well divided and organized (just on the internet my room is a real mess... Just like my life *bad pun*)

Today I’m here to reformulate my “Expression of the Week” segment! The truth is I don’t always have access to my computer so I can’t always come here and change the quote, also I sometimes forget, I admit! So, in a much more efficient way I started posting quotes on my Twitter account! (yes... just now... not like I did that since I created it years ago...)

What’s even greater than that is that I post a different quote almost every day (sometimes multiple on the same day) and I notify when a new post comes out, so you’ll be always up to date on that!

Olá fofos!

Bem ultimamente tem sido anúncios uns atrás dos outros não é? Bem a razão para isso é porque um post gigante sobre todas estas coisas seria aborrecido, e honestamente gosto de ter tudo muito bem organizadinho (menos na vida real o meu quarto está uma confusão… como a minha vida *brincadeira*)

Hoje estou aqui para reformular o segmento “Expressão da Semana”! A verdade é que nem sempre tenho acesso ao computador e então nem sempre consigo mudar a expressão… E claro muitas vezes me esqueço também! Por isso de modo a ser muito mais eficiente comecei a postar estas expressões no Twitter! (sim… comecei agora… não ando a fazer isso desde que o criei nem nada…)

O que é ainda mais fantástico é que desta forma consigo postar uma expressão diferente quase todos os dias! (às vezes até várias por dia) e notificar-vos sempre que um post aqui do site sair!

Podem seguir-me aqui, ou apenas ver um pouco, ver se gostam dos tweets que posto nas minhas noites intermináveis de choro sobre séries e animes.

Vai ser tudo por agora, mas um novo post virá mais tarde não percam (porque nós também não)!

Weekly Update | I'm Back In Business

Hello guys!

I’m very pleased to inform that after such a long time trying to figure stuff out I’m back on my daily studying routine!

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts I’m going to report what I do during the previous week, instead of setting big goals that bring me down each time I don’t/can’t attain them!

So this week was fairly ‘calm’ actually, I’ve been reviewing all my Italian on Duolingo, this time around paying more attention to the sentence structures and taking note of the vocabulary I don’t quite grasp, instead of just trying to complete the bigger amount of levels in the least amount of time. I still have a ton to review, but while I’m doing it I am also trying to engage more with natives and reading some texts for kids, and I’m pleased to say that even while not knowing all the vocabulary, through sentence structure and similarities to Portuguese and Spanish I could read a decent amount!

Moving on to Japanese, I’m taking things even slower than with Italian, taking the time to properly learn the Katakana and training reading Hiragana as much as possible, not worrying about the vocabulary, just trying to know what the character mean in the first place! I also started properly seeing anime again (some reviews about that coming soon) and I notice I can put the episodes on and look away for a second and understand like 60% of the dialogue (depends on the theme as well, an anime like Fairy Tail that I’ve been following since the beginning is fairly easier than one about sports or music that uses terms I don’t know) I’ve been trying to challenge myself more and more, singing and listening to everything I can and hopefully I’ll improve and get back on track soon!

Olá pessoal!

Estou muito feliz em informar que depois de tanto tempo estou de volta ao meu estudo (semi) diário!

Como mencionei num dos meus posts anteriores, em vez de definir objetivos para a semana como fazia anteriormente vou apenas “reportar” o que estudei essa semana, porque honestamente a forma anterior estava a deixar-me em completo stress e a desmotivar-me ainda mais!

Bem, esta semana foi relativamente calma na verdade. Tenho estado a rever o meu Italiano no Duolingo, desta vez a prestar mais atenção às estruturas das frases e a tomar notas do vocabulário que não consigo bem perceber, em vez de apenas tentar completar um determinado número de níveis numa semana. Ainda tenho imensa coisa para rever, mas enquanto o estou a fazer estou também a tentar falar mais com pessoas nativas ou que falem italiano, conseguindo ter pequenas conversações básicas, afinal de contas aprender na prática é sempre o melhor!

Passando ao Japonês, estou a rever ainda mais lentamente as coisas, levando o meu tempo a aprender propriamente Katakana e a treinar a ler o Hiragana tanto quanto possível (como em legendas de vídeos e afins), não me preocupando tanto a nível de gramática e vocabulário até ter estas duas bases na ponta da língua. Também comecei a ver anime novamente (algumas reviews sobre isso em breve) e noto que mesmo sem ver as legendas consigo perceber mais de metade do que dizem (claro que depende, em animes como Fairy Tail que acompanho desde o inicio já estou habituada aos termos que usam sobre magia e afins, enquanto animes sobre temas que não vejo tanto coo música já me passam mais ao lado) tenho tentando desafiar-me cada vez mais, cantando e ouvindo a tudo o que posso e felizmente voltarei ao plano de antes!

Bem isto é tudo por agora (e já é muito), espero trazer-vos mais notícias interessantes para a semana!

Posting Schedules and Why I Hate Them

Hello jellos!

Long time no see indeed... Again!

So if you’ve read the title you know I’m here to give one more excuse as to why I haven’t been posting regularly (not that anyone reads anyway)!

Well thing is, I hate schedules! Yeah they’re a lot of fun during the first week, but sooner than later I start to see them as more of an obligation than something I want to do, and the result of that is sloppy content that I rushed to make, instead of all the fun stuff I actually want to do!

I’m not completely abolishing schedules, this is not an anarchy, but I’m going to take the time I need to make GOOD things you WANT to read and watch instead of just throwing stuff in here, I hope you all can be patient and stick with me through this, and I hope you like the content I post, all I want is to bring you all the cool stuff I learn, see, read that you might find you actually enjoy!

Well I’ve been rambling for a while now; this was just a quick note, see you all later!

Olá queridos!

Sei que não ando a postar nada… outra vez… E como devem ter lido no título estou aqui para vos dar mais uma desculpa!

Bem a verdade é que eu odeio horários! Sim eles são muitos giros de fazer, e no inicio conseguimos segui-los facilmente, mas depois começam a tornar-se mais como uma obrigação do que outra coisa, e em vez do conteúdo giro e informativo que quero fazer acabo por apressar um texto qualquer sobre algo desinteressante…

É assim, não estou a abolir horários por COMPLETO, apenas vou demorar o meu tempo para fazer BOM conteúdo que vocês QUEIRAM ler e ver! Gostaria que fossem pacientes comigo (se ainda houver alguém por aí) e prometo que no futuro vos trarei coisas muito mais divertidas!

Isto foi apenas uma nota rapidinha, vejo-vos a todos depois!

Spanish Presentation + Youtube Premier

Jello guys!!

I have great news! My Youtube debut is finally here!

This past week I finally found the courage to make a video presentation in Spanish where I talk about myself and my blog, and why I created that channel and decided to make videos!

Subtitles are available in English and Portuguese, and I have many more videos planned out, so don't miss it! Unlike my blog posts I won't have these videos on a schedule, I'll just do them when I'm available because it takes a lot of time to make them and edit, and that's a thing I'm not yet very comfortable doin, so I'm just experimenting for the time being!

Jello pessoal!

A minha estreia no Youtube finalmente chegou!

Nesta passada semana finalmente arranjei coragem para fazer uma vídeo-apresentação em Espanhol, onde falo sobre mim, o meu blog e porque comecei a fazer vídeos de todo.

Legendas estão disponíveis em Inglês e Português, e tenho muitos mais vídeos para vir! Estes vídeos não vão estar sob horário como os posts do meu blog porque anda não sei bem mexer nos programas de edição e na câmara, por isso é algo que ainda consume muito tempo por estar assim "há descoberta" e não tenho muito tempo de momento para dispensar assim.

Weekly Goals 9

Hey minna!

As I said somewhere this week, from today onwards there are going to be some changes in the blog! For starters I’m going to start to write in both Portuguese and English, as you can see in this post, I’ll have a little bar in the top where you can choose the translation you want (this will not appear in original texts because it takes out a little bit of the magic of the whole thing). I’ll perhaps add in Spanish translations but I can’t assure you they’ll be 100% accurate because I’m still a little bit rusty with it!

This little segment will restart but in a whole different way, instead of guessing what I’m going to study the week to come I’m going to do the opposite and review all I learned the past week, commenting and perhaps giving out some examples and tips for the people who are just beginning as well!

I have many interesting posts to come, I hope you like them as much as me, I’m going to dedicate more time into this, because I really love writing and keeping this blog makes me really happy! I hope you like the future content and keep on reading to discover the wonderful surprises coming soon ^^

Hey minna!

Como disse algures nesta última semana, a partir de hoje vão haver muitas mudanças aqui no blog! Para começar vou começar a escrever em Português e Inglês, como podem ver neste post, vou ter uma pequena barra no topo onde podem escolher a versão que querem (isto não vai aparecer em textos originais porque retira um pouco da magia e do significado). Talvez adicione também traduções em Espanhol, mas não posso assegurar que estejam 100% corretas pois estou ainda um pouco enferrujada!

Este pequeno segmento, vai recomeçar, mas de uma maneira completamente diferente. Em vez de prever o que vou estudar durante a semana vou fazer o completo oposto e rever tudo o que aprendi na semana anterior, comentando e talvez dando alguns exemplos e conselhos para os iniciantes como eu!
Tenho muitos mais posts interessantes planeados, espero que gostem deles tanto como eu, vou dedicar-me mais a este blog, pois adoro escrever e manter este pequeno diário deixa-me muito feliz! Espero que gostem do conteúdo daqui para a frente e que continuem a ler para descobrir as incríveis surpresas que virão em breve ^^

2016 Expectations and Delusions

Hey guys!

So I just wanted to drop by today and make an overview from what I learned in 2015 and what my hopes are for 2016!

Well what to say, what to say...

As so many times before, I started seriously studying Japanese, learned Hiragana and Katakana completly finally! (still they need some reviewing, especially Katakana) 

I learned more Latin but unfortunatly put it on hold because summer vacation kicked in and I was having private lessons from my middle school Portuguese teacher!

Also started Italian in the middle of August, with some Spanish reviews here and there... In reality I didn't finish either courses, but I'm learning a lot form different sources, not only Duolingo trying to make sense of it all!

Well I think this was pretty much my 2015 language-wise, but I have higher hopes to 2016!

I want to start a Youtube channel, even if to just practice my speaking and having you all judge me there, this has been a little idea of mine for quite some time now, I follow a lot of polyglots on Youtube or just foreigners that are learning another language, and I always wished to become one of them!

Also, I wish to finish Italian and start French (That I should already know because I had it as a subject for three years in middle school, back when I wasn't really interested in languages other that English and Japanese) it's one of my biggest regrets not have taken advantage of the teachers I had at the time!

Getting into Kanji by the end of the year would also be perfect, if everything goes well I might have Japanese classes in colleage, so I'll certainly take advantage of that!

Kind-of-language-related wish is going to the UK to study, although I might not go to Languages, I really want to immerse myself in another country and learn as much as I can about that wonderful place! Besides from there I can travel to other places and experience a lot of more fun things and report it all back to you!

These are my main wishes for this year, I hope I can accomplish them all, if not I'll always have the next and so on, so on!

UPDATE!!!

Hey guys!

Just a quick update, I'm going to stop (or almost stop) learning italian through Memrise and I'm going to start commiting to Duolingo! I find that website much more resourceful and complete, and it has much better explanations for begginers (at least I think so) So yeah, I'll still use Memrise for vocabulary, but that essencially nullifies this weekly goals for Italian!!
